6am

I hate mornings.  HATE them.  I even have a mug that firmly displays my beliefs to the world.

Needless to say, I’d rather fight off a pack of rabid badgers than get out of bed even a minute earlier than I absolutely need to.

So why was I up and out of bed by 5:45 am this morning?

The gym.  Yes, you heard that right.  The gym.  I’m out of the office at work for this month and as such I don’t have time during the day to get my workout in.  And I really hate going after, that’s the time of day I just want to kick back and relax.

And so there I  found myself blurry eyed and dragging my ass in this morning.  I didn’t want to go.   But I knew I had to.  With diabetes, my exercise regime is now more important than ever, both for keeping my body healthy and for my own stress relief.  There’s nothing like lifting something heavy to take all your cares away!

So I did it.  Upper body day.  Bench press (back up to 85lbs!  My strength is coming back!!!!!), assisted chin ups, and push ups.  Then shower, grabbed breakfast and on my way to work for 730.  Boom.  Done.  And it felt AMAZING.  My day started with my feeling happy and refreshed and now I don’t have to worry about my workout when I’d rather be relaxing.  The only thing was that I didn’t adjust my insulin dose properly for my post workout meal and ended up pretty low a few hours later.  But I’ll try it again next time.  I might have to make a habit of this…but let’s see what happens when the alarm goes off tomorrow morning.
